Lollapalooza’s 2019 lineup was unveiled March 30th, set to be performed August 1-4th at Chicago’s Grant Park. Lollapalooza has many well-known radiostars, such as Twenty One Pilots and Ariana Grande, while also featuring artists with less recognition and fewer hits, such as Sheck Wes and H.E.R. Lollapalooza gives fans of artists from every level of fame an event to talk about, and this year’s lineup is no different.

Ariana Grande performs her first show at Lollapalooza this summer, to many fans’ delight. While Ariana Grande is known for her numerous radio hits, like “7 Rings” and “thank u, next”, other artists in the 2019 lineup have a different challenge ahead of them. For artists like Flume, this is the first time headlining an event as big as Lollapalooza. Even though Flume has been generally seen as “good” by critics, such as music review website Pitchfork who gave their latest album (Hi, This is Flume) a 7.6/10, the pressure is on for their first experience headlining an event with the cultural scale as Lollapalooza.

Twenty One Pilots is also set to perform. Known for their exciting alt-rock/hip-hop beats, Twenty One Pilots has risen to the level of radio fame. Another lesser-known performer, H.E.R., has been on the rise as of recently. H.E.R. was nominated for five grammys just this year for her R&B beats. Other artists, like Sheck Wes (known for “Mo Bamba”) and Chainsmokers (known for “Closer”) are also scheduled to perform at Lollapalooza.

Whether you’re celebrating the big break of your favorite artist, or here to see another show-stopping performance from another, Lollapalooza is perfect for music fans of all different kinds, like junior Ryan Davenport, who enjoys the large scale of the event. “I want to attend not only to see and hear my favorite performers,” said Davenport, “but it’s also just a fun experience to go to an event like this with all my friends.”
