GHS Student Covid Journal- August 2020

Your monthly GHS COVID updates:

August: Students started school virtually on August 19, 2020, with an intention of staying virtual for four following weeks. GPS made the switch from using Unified Classroom to another related program called Schoology, which seems to be working smoother than UC. Students “attend” school via Zoom following a block schedule of four classes a day, including time for advisory and lunch.

In the meantime, Griffith Athletics has been monitoring their sports teams super closely. The introduction of progressing phases has been in effect since mid July: phase 1- no contact sport, conditioning; phase 2- sport specific practices, no games/competitions; phase 3- full games, events, practices. We are currently in phase 2 until the end of August. To prevent any major outbreak in the school systems, athletes and coaches are required to wear masks whenever they are not playing and standing within 6 feet of one another.

Sports games are scheduled to begin in the last week of August. Spectators are allowed, but have to wear masks and social distance the entire game. Guests can purchase tickets online or at the gates as well. Until then, Go Panthers!
