NBA player Lebron James, just broke the record for the most regular season points scored in NBA history. The previous record was held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who had 38,387 points, but it all changed during the third quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder, which took place on February 9th.

James hit a fadeaway jumper with 10.9 seconds left in the third quarter and immediately threw his hands in the air, knowing he just broke Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time record. Abdul-Jabbar, sitting in the stands, immediately stood up and clapped, then made his way to mid-court to honor James who was very emotional. The game was delayed as James’ including his mother, wife, and children all walked onto the court to congratulate him on this accomplishment. James took the microphone at one point and said, “Thank you to the Laker faithful. You are one of a kind,” and after this, he asked the crowd to give a standing ovation to Abdul-Jabbar.
