Griffith Choir Goes Gold at ISSMA
Select members of the Griffith High School Choir performed at the Indiana State School Music Association competition in Indianapolis on Saturday, February 18th. The students participated in Solo and Ensemble performances and achieved massive success in their ratings. The ensemble, comprised of Emoni Neal, Nevada Smotherman, Paige Hale, Peyton Stojakovich, Ashley Taylor, Natalie Edward-Watkins, Ava Moore, Terrance Salazar-Ray, Nick Grahovac, Nolan Davenport, Elijah Neal, Jeremiah Fuentes, received a rating of Gold at the State Solo and Ensemble Competition with a score of 11.5 . Senior Terrence Salazar-Ray says, “Going to Indianapolis for ISSMA was a great turnout for our choir especially because we received a higher rating than we did at our district competition.” Soloists Ashley Taylor and Elijah Neal both received a Gold with Distinction, the highest achievable rating, with Neal receiving a perfect score of 9.
