Cheerleading and Track Extraordinaire: Amaya Hatch
Amaya Hatch is a senior at Griffith High School. She participates in cheerleading and track. Amaya is a flyer on the Griffith Cheer Team. When describing the position Hatch says, “A flyer is the person who gets thrown in the air and does really cool stuff.” In track, Hatch runs in the 4×100-meter relay and 200-meter dash. She also participates in long jump. For her cheerleading achievements, she has been on the Varsity Cheer Team since freshman year and became the captain her sophomore year.
As for track, Amaya went to Regionals for her 4×100 meter relay team and for long jump in the 2022 season. Besides her athletic career, she also works at the YMCA as a gymnastics, cheerleading, and ninja coach. When asked about her career plans she expressed interest in physical therapy or occupational therapy. Hatch states, “Since being an athlete, I know what it feels like to be injured or in pain. I want to help people recover from their injuries.” All in all, Amaya Hatch is an amazing leader throughout high school and has definitely left a legacy at GHS.
