College Commits: Allyson Lawson
This is a part of short series of stories featuring Griffith High School students who have already declared themselves to play a sport/activity competitively at the collegiate level.
Ally Lawson is a bowler on Griffith High School’s very successful bowling team. Ally plans to continue her bowling journey at Marian University of Ancilla College. This university is located in Plymouth, Indiana, and is in the NJCAA, or a junior college for athletics.
Lawson plans to major in elementary education when she arrives to Plymouth. Her reasoning for pursuing this is similar to many others, and she says this field fills her with joy.
“Working with kids and helping them learn life skills makes me happy.”
Bowling for Ally has always been a large part of her life, and has been reinforced by tradition.
“I’ve always done bowling, it was a family tradition that has always stuck with me because I always pushed myself to be a better bowler.”
Outside of bowling, Lawson plans on finding a teaching job out of college.
“My end goal is to pursue a career in teaching and shift my focus towards that, because I know bowling can’t help me forever .”
Marian University of Ancilla College is getting a hard-working student-athlete in Ally Lawson.
