Mr. Adams is one of the new teachers at the G. He has taught for about twenty-four years in subjects such as Social Studies and Japanese. He is now teaching English for the 12th and some 11th graders at Griffith High School after previously teaching at Morton High School. While in high school, he ran cross country his first year and was on the tennis team for the remainder of high school. He says his teaching style is different because he “like[s] students working in groups to solve problems as opposed to just sitting there doing the work on their own. I like them talking about the material and that kind of thing.”
He studied at the University of Pittsburgh, earning his undergraduate and master’s degrees. He then went on to Purdue, where he earned another master’s degree. Mr. Adams says, “I mostly focus on nonfiction text in critical reading.” He hopes that with his teaching style, students can identify the untrue stories they may see online to better their lives after high school.
A fun fact that Mr. Adams shared was that he has lived on three different continents: North America, Asia, and Europe. It’s a good thing he knows Japanese!
