With the end of the first semester inching closer, Panther Press thought it would be a great opportunity to spotlight a new teacher here at GHS. Mr. Ehrlich is one of the new math teachers this year. He had a lot of influence from teachers he’s had, and each inspired him to take on teaching for the next generations to come. Mr. Ehrlich studied at Valparaiso University and graduated in 2015. Later on, he spent his first five years teaching at Whiting High School and last year at Munster High School. He currently teaches Geometry and Honors Algebra II here at Griffith High School. When asked how his method of teaching might be different from other teachers he’s worked with, he says, “I try my best to avoid mundane classes. That might mean we play a game or getting students to come up to the board [to solve an equation], but I try and keep students on their toes a bit”. After his collective seven years of teaching, he says he has learned countless things from his students, and wouldn’t know where to even start. A fun fact about Mr. Ehrlich is that he is a massive Washington Commanders fan, and his family has had season tickets since 1937. He wants all of his students to know that, for him, a positive attitude goes a long way!
