As the setter knocks the ball up, the hitter jumps and spikes the ball as hard as she can. It’s in! The visiting team can’t recover it, and the point goes to the home team!
Hanover Central traveled to Griffith High School to face off in a volleyball match on Wednesday, September 4th. While it was a hard-fought match, Griffith fell 0-3 to Hanover. They lost the first third in a close 26 to 24 score, but the lady panthers fell farther behind in the following two thirds.
Even though Griffith did lose, the amount of teamwork that they had was incredible. The players show great potential, being able to block and return many balls, so now all they need to do is keep up their work. The leadership from senior Robin Edwards and Coach Sarah Payne is immense, and the girls rally behind each other in their wake.
“These girls have a lot of fight. They just need to show it in game, then we will be able to make some noise,” Coach Payne said. The three-year coach went on to talk about how she thinks the season will go: Payne believes that they will end the season on a good note, and her players will learn to work together very well.
