The Griffith Girl’s Basketball team was defeated by the Munster Mustangs at home on January 9, losing with a final score of 49-25.
Senior Point Guard Maddy Ladendorf lead the team in points with 12, and Junior Shooting Guard Morgan Von Ogden was right behind with 10 points.
“We really just need to be more aggressive,” Morgan Von Ogden said. “We need to take our opportunities and attack where we can.” Von Ogden also led the team with 4 defensive rebounds and 2 assists, while getting a steal as well.
Although the team suffered a loss, Coach Tomsci was not disappointed. There were many things that the team did do right in his eyes but explained that there are some things that the team needs to work on.
“Shots weren’t fallen for us in the first half, and that’s kind of a crucial part of the game,” Tomsci said. “Munster is a quality team, quality program, and I think they will help us in the long game for the rest of the season.” The experience of going head-to-head with one of the best teams in the region will help them win against tougher opponents this season.
All-in-all, the Panthers did lose, but they are not disheartened. As long as they can keep their minds in the right place and win their next game.
The Panthers play at Portage on January 25.
