Griffith Panthers and Lake Station Eagles wrestled together, at Griffith High School on January 15. The event had an impact on the wrestlers mental and physical health.
Sophomore Remi Davis said, “Cutting weight is mentally challenging. It makes you feel terrible. It also puts you in a bad mood. But it is all worth it. It makes you feel good to see all the hard work you did.” Wrestling is mentally draining for the wrestlers, but they feel good about themselves when they are done and the hard work they have done. Their hard work is something to be proud of.
Wrestlers also put in a tremendous amount of physical effort. “Our relentless practice regimen is a key factor in our victories,” sophomore Logan Hernandez said. “We push ourselves harder every day, regardless of our opponents’ efforts.” The team’s dedication is a testament to the Griffith wrestling team’s commitment to success. They train at 5 in the morning and after school from 2:30 until 5, Monday through Saturday, showing their determination and discipline.
Wrestlers train to beat their opponents. The Griffith team won by training hard and being strategic, a testament to their intelligence and planning. It is extremely hard to be a wrestler—physically and mentally, but the GHS wrestlers do it anyway.
