GRIFFITH, Ind. — Griffith High School senior Emily DeYoung has committed to Indiana University Northwest, where she plans to study diagnostic medical sonography and pursue a career as an ultrasound technician.
“I picked IUN because it is close to home, and I can also save money,” DeYoung said. She hopes to work in a hospital or clinic, helping bring joy to new mothers.
Throughout high school, DeYoung was an active member of the Pantherettes dance team, participating for all four years. “I tried out for the team because I thought it would be a good opportunity for me, and along the way, I have made so many amazing memories,” she said. Though she enjoyed dancing, she does not plan to continue in college.
One of DeYoung’s favorite high school moments was being crowned homecoming queen. “It is definitely something that I will never forget,” she said. She also credits Ms. Jenna Berzy, her favorite teacher, for making a lasting impact.
As she looks ahead to college, DeYoung is excited to make new friends and memories. The Griffith community wishes her success in her future endeavors.
