GRIFFITH, Ind – Griffith High School senior Jackson Davenport has committed to the Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, IN, where he received a full ride scholarship for both baseball and football. He plans to major in secondary education in all four years and pursue a degree in education.
As a student-athlete, Jackson balanced two sports while staying focused on his future. As a pitcher in baseball and a safety in football, his leadership and competitive spirit helped lead his team to success. One of his favorite memories of high school baseball was “defeating Illiana Christian, the top ranked team in conference at the time…this game proved that underdogs can rise to the top.” On the football field, going undefeated and celebrating a homecoming win with his family was a moment he will never forget.
Jackson’s advice to the younger generation is simple but powerful: “You give out what you put in.” He believes that consistent effort and dedication are what set you apart, and his journey is proof of that. As he looks ahead to college, Jackson is focused on growing as an athlete and a future educator. The Griffith community wishes him the best of luck.
