
After three reschedules, Griffith Baseball finally got on the diamond, sweeping the Morton Governors, 10-3 and starting off undefeated.
Coming into the game, Morton quickly went up on Griffith, scoring 2-0, by the end of the second inning. By the bottom of the 3rd inning, Griffith quickly responded going on a 3-0 run, to gain the lead now up by 1. Morton responded with a point of their own in the 4th inning. By the 5th inning, it was looking like anyone’s game, until Griffith scored 3 unanswered points going up 7-3, This gave the Boys Baseball all the momentum they needed, scoring another four points during the 6th inning. Griffith was in a comfortable lead by the very last inning, allowing them to finish the game 10-3 boosting their season 1-0.
Standout player of the game, Jackson Davenport recorded four plate appearances, with 2 hits going 50%, along with 5 RBI’s and one 2B. “Compared to last year’s team, we matured and earned each other’s trust”, Senior Jackson Davenport said.
Head coach Andrew Braddy looks to revive what Griffith Baseball used to be as he looks forward to this new amazing season.
