Edgenuity has been used as the Griffith High School credit recovery system for many years now. However, Griffith Administrators feel it is time to try a new program and take a different approach to credit recovery for students.
Griffith High School plans to switch to a new credit recovery system called “Edmentum.” Administrators are hoping the new system can help teach students and give them a better understanding of the class they’re taking. Edgenuity has been used in Griffith Schools for nearly twenty years, and it is becoming outdated for students.
Griffith Edgenuity Teacher, Mrs. Belmonte said, “We are excited to try the new system but also a little worried. It will be a new process for us teachers as well as students and we can’t guarantee it’ll be successful for our students. However, we’re trusting our administrative staff and hoping for the best.”
Edmentum is a more up to date adaptive online learning platform. Edmentum offers personalized learning, better data insights for teachers, and a more understanding instruction basis for students. It is also significantly cheaper for Griffith to use Edmentum rather than Edgenuity.
Griffith is offering Edmentum as an alternative school option to students who want to be online only. This gives Griffith students the opportunity to choose whether they would like to do in person traditional schooling, or online school.
There are numerous more positives to switching systems, Griffith teachers and staff are just hoping for a smooth transition. After this school year, Griffith will completely get rid of Edgenuity and switch to Edmentum.
