The Griffith Middle School track and field team wrapped up its season with a strong performance at the conference meet held at Calumet High School on Friday, May 9.

Several athletes set personal records during the final meet, highlighting the team’s growth and dedication throughout the season. Among them was eighth grader Hope Lyons, who shaved four seconds off her previous time in the 400-meter dash.
“Even though we didn’t win, we still broke personal records and we all did good,” Lyons said.
Coaching played a major role in the team’s success, according to athletes. Lyons credited her coach for motivating her and helping her improve.
“My coach always tries to help me do better and motivate me,” she said. “They really care about us and want to see us succeed.”
As the season comes to a close, many runners are already looking ahead. Several athletes have expressed plans to train harder and beat new records next year, reflecting the team’s commitment and drive to improve.
