The Griffith Best Buddies chapter proudly participated in the annual Best Buddies Walk on May 10 at the Lake County Fairgrounds, a nationwide event that promotes inclusion and friendship for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The event brought together participants from across Northwest Indiana, and Griffith’s presence was strongly felt.

The Griffith Best Buddies group set up stations filled with fun and interactive activities. From colorful face painting to creative bracelet-making, the chapter made sure there was something for everyone to enjoy. “The tables were buzzing with laughter, music, and the spirit of friendship,” said Best Buddies member Enrique Ramirez, as people of all ages joined in the fun.
In addition to crafts, the team hosted a variety of games that got participants moving and smiling. Whether it was bean bag tosses, tag, or simply dancing along to the music, the energy was high and the atmosphere was positive. Kids and adults alike eagerly joined in, and the Griffith team welcomed everyone with open arms.
Members of the Griffith chapter shared their excitement about being part of something bigger than themselves. “It’s not just about having fun,” said Natalie Wadkins. “It’s about spreading love, inclusion, and showing everyone they belong.”
The walk ended with a celebration recognizing all the teams and individuals who came out to support the cause. Griffith Best Buddies walked away with more than just memories — they walked away proud, inspired, and more united than ever.
Griffith showed up, showed out, and showed love. Their commitment to inclusion continues to make a powerful impact in the community.
