The Lady Panthers tennis team bounced back from their recent loss to Whiting with a strong performance against Wheeler on May 12. Griffith responded well, defeating Wheeler 4-1 while maintaining control for most of the match.
In Set 1, Atlas Fugate and Delaney Kimberlin led the way for Griffith, winning 6-3 and each recording two doubles throughout the night. In the second set, the Lady Panthers outscored Wheeler 7-5 to secure the team victory.
“After winning this game, we’re looking to end our season strong to prepare for sectionals,” said junior Xiomara Reyes.
Tennis is often a quieter sport in Griffith, sometimes overshadowed by bigger programs like basketball and football. However, recent improvements have put the spotlight on the team as a rising contender in the coming years.
The Lady Panthers improve their record to 4-6 on the season and are now ready to begin their playoff run.
