With the 2024-2025 Griffith High School year ending, the students are ready to make their summer plans, but what are the teachers planning to do this summer? Teachers work hard all school year so when they get a lot of time off, what are the things teacher do during summer break? 

With summer vacation approaching there is a variety of activities and places teachers could be going. However, tutoring and summer school is going to take up some of our hard-working teachers time off. Since teachers can very in age, the vacations, and hobbies are going to differ based on each teacher. 

 The first teacher I am speaking with is Ms. Mattel a high school Math teacher here at Griffith high school and she had to say this about her summer plans. “Unfortunately, I do not currently have any major plans for this summer (although I am hoping that changes!). This will be the first summer in 18 years that my son and I may not get to go to Disney World and Siesta Key, Florida, due to his job. We are still hoping for some smaller, shorter trips at least!”  “I have quite a bit of free time now that my son is older. I plan to get some projects done around the house this summer.”  

Overall teachers work hard year-round to make sure students have lesson plans throughout the year so, the 2-month break during the summer is well needed for staff and students. Students and teachers are burned out from the school. The freedom and free time are refreshing, and then it is time to do it all over again.
