GRIFFITH, IN — The Griffith Panthers played the Hammond Central Wolves in a Volleyball match in Griffith, on Wednesday, August 27 and won with a score of three sets to two.
With a show of impressive performance and leadership, the Griffith Panthers came back from an early deficit of two sets to none, then the rally started. The Panthers prevailed and finished the night beating the Wolves, with the final set winning by three points.

“We really just encouraged each other and tried to hype each other up,” freshman Sydney Jancosek, said. “It helped a lot with just the way that we worked as a team and really the foundation on how we came back and ended up winning.” Jancosek said.
Coach Sarah Payne said she was proud of her team for staying in the game and keeping their heads locked into the next play. It was really a whole team effort.
“The girls’ energy wasn’t really there at the start, they were out of it, and just seemed like they didn’t want to be there. Then one of our coaches said a funny joke to loosen them up a little bit, and that’s where it all kind of started,” said Coach Payne.
The Griffith Girls Volleyball team should be proud of this victory, as it moves them to 3 and 4 on the year. With the bulk of the season coming up, they are off to a hot start at the right time.
