GRIFFITH, IN — Griffith Boys Tennis Team played the Portage Indians on Wednesday, Sept. 17, going 0-4.
All matches were tight and well-fought, but the team just couldn’t get the job done. In total, the team is happy with their performances, and they gained valuable experience for the rest of the season.
“They all played well. We’re a small team, so everyone is basically playing a level up. For what that is, everyone is playing good matches and it’s fun to watch,” said Coach Bob Ince.
Senior Victor Scortino and Junior Tyler Drozd, the doubles match partners, were especially fun to watch for Ince.
“They have improved a lot, just over the month that we’ve been playing. They look phenomenal on the court, chemistry is off the charts, and they just work.”
Scortino thinks otherwise, though. He believes that he and Drozd can be even better and make a run for the sectional title.
“We’re excited. We think that we can actually do very well. Right now, we’re 5 [wins] and 3 [losses], so we’re ready for what’s next,” said Scortino.
Currently, the tennis team is in a good spot for the future. Griffith might be seeing a sectional title from tennis from Scortino and Drozd and will see more remarkable things in the future from this team.
