GRIFFITH, IN —The Griffith Lady Panthers volleyball team faced the River Forest Ingots on September 25, winning three sets to one at home during Senior Night.
Although the Ingots took the first set, the Panthers came back from the 1-0 deficit to win on a night dedicated to their seniors.
The Panthers showed strong teamwork, communication, and determination. After dropping the first set, they stayed focused and won the next three for a 3-1 victory.
The highlight of the night was the recognition of seniors Michaela (Misha) Rossi, Saniya Harper, and captain Kaelin Bergdahl.
Senior Night at Griffith brings fans, friends, and families together to celebrate the players’ dedication and accomplishments.
“To me, this team means family. All the girls on this team are like your sisters, and you don’t want to leave them because you love them so much,” Rossi said.
The leadership of the seniors has strengthened the team’s mentality. Bergdahl’s leadership has helped keep the team positive on and off the court.
“Personally, I have seen growth not only in my skill, but in my mentality,” Bergdahl said. “Mentality doesn’t just affect my play, but the team as a whole. They know that, and it’s how it should be. We’re a team, and we rely on each other.”
With emotion running high before and after the match, the seniors ended their special night with a victory, moving the varsity record to 9–10 for the season.
Led by their seniors, the Panthers hope to bring home a sectional title for the first time since 2008 as sectionals approach on October 14.
