Fall Sports Senior Night

On Friday, October 8, Griffith Jr./Sr. High School celebrated all of their seniors with an annual Fall Sports Senior Night. This Senior night recognized various seniors from all of the fall sports including football, color guard, boys tennis, cross country, Pantherettes, girls golf, cheerleading, and marching band. Each Senior walked down the football field with their loved ones while the announcer talked about where they wanted to go to college, their advice for underclassmen, and other extracurriculars they’re involved in. The students were all given a bouquet of yellow flowers to hold and their mothers were given a yellow boutonnière to match. Once each Senior reached the end of the field, their picture was taken with their family before they exited the field for the night. The seniors who participated in color guard, football, marching band, Pantherettes, and cheerleading stuck around to perform during the home football game against Whiting High School that would happen that night.
Senior and section leader of the woodwinds for the Griffith Marching Panthers, Victoria Carpenter, said, “It was amazing being able to see all of my fellow classmates who were recognized for all of their accomplishments in their fall sports. We’ve all come so far since freshman year, and it was pretty cool to witness that.”
All of the seniors also made senior boards that were displayed in the field house for everyone to see. The boards included pictures from their previous years on each sport, as well as pictures with friends and family. Some seniors went all out with their boards, as they included candy, twinkle lights, table cloths, balloons, etc. The annual fall sports Senior night was a chance to recognize all of the seniors’ accomplishments these past four years. For the staff members, students, members of the Griffith community, and the family and friends of the seniors, it was a way to bring everyone together to celebrate the class of 2022.
