WandaVision is going to make its anticipated explosive debut this upcoming January fifteenth on Disney+. The series has been long-awaited by hardcore and casual viewers alike with its compelling marketing campaign. The trippy show will finally kick off the start of phase four with its unusual, lovely couple.

Wanda Maximoff and Vision find themselves living a blissful life in a 1950s suburbia as they try to keep their superhero identities a secret. A noisy neighbor, Agnes, seems to be keeping Wanda company while Vision works at an office job. Though their sitcom reality falters, and the bliss fades away (not without the suspicion of the couple), audiences see Wanda and Vision switching decades from the 1960s up to the 2010s. Along with the switch of the decades, their appearances and surroundings change with them. It seems that by the 1970s, Wanda has miraculously grown a baby bump large enough for twins, although she seems to give birth to them in the 1980s. While Wanda and Vision start a family in the suburbs to live a domestic life, reality can’t help but push back at the assumed reality Wanda has created out of grief. MCU fans will remember the deaths of Vision once by Wanda herself and the second by Thanos at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. He wasn’t brought back at the reversal snap because he had been one of the few who had unfortunately perished before the snap. The audience can assume that is why the organization S.W.OR.D can be seen setting up camp outside the pocket reality she’s created. The organization predominantly deals with cosmic issues, especially ones altering the fabric of reality. The takeaway from the promotional material is that the journey begins this Friday, and audiences will be taken on the ride of each episode as it all accumulates to the big end sequence.

This wacky show combines sitcom reality and MCU reality into a fusion that will leave Marvel fans bewildered in such a delightful way. Screeners for the first three episodes were sent out to the press to give their initial reactions, which were all positive. They praised the dedication to the sitcom structure and the performances of Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany’s titular roles. Every social media reviewer with access to the screeners couldn’t complement enough of the weirdness, slow-burn mystery, and the absolute uniqueness that this project brings to the entire MCU. Those initial reactions have garnered even more buildup and excitement for the release date that is soon approaching. WandaVision will premiere with a two-episode starter and likely switch to an episode a week for the nine-episode run. The series is said to total up to six hours, which means later episodes will be longer lengthwise than the first episodes, which totaled to thirty-minutes, including credits.

WandaVision has a lot to unpack as MCU fans await for their many questions and theories to be answered. One of the biggest questions for fans is how Vision is alive and well. When the last time the audience saw him, Thanos had ripped out his mind stone and killed him. A popular theory among the MCU community is that Vision is not real and was rather created by Wanda, just like the suburbia they are living in. Viewers of Avengers: Endgame saw Wanda dealing with her grief rather well, so how did she end up in the center of this wacky sitcom world? There may be a sinister force manipulating her through her grief as multiple scenes from the trailer showcase Wanda doesn’t have full control over this pocket world. The MCU community once again has the theory that audiences will be introduced to the Hell-Lord Mephisto or supervillain Nightmare. An easter egg in the recent Loki trailer pictured a Mephisto figure in stained glass, which could further emphasize the Mephisto theory. If so, a comic book storyline from the “House of M” will likely be seen, as other factors of that series have already been teased. In time, viewers will fully come to understand what this show is about and whether their theories were true.
The talent of the cast shines through the screen as the press remarks on all of their delightful performances. Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff) reprises her role, but this time for the smaller screen. An expansion for the development of Wanda excitedly awaits viewers. Paul Bettany (Vision) also reprises his role for the small screen. This time, Vision encompasses Tony Stark, J.A.R.V.I.S, Ultron, and Dick Van Dyke. Kathryn Hahn (Agnes) makes her MCU debut as the noisy neighbor that may have darker ties to this whole situation of Wanda’s sitcom pocket world. Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau) makes her debut as the grown-up Monica who has somehow gotten herself warped up in this faltering reality. Both Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis) and Randall Park (Jimmy Woo) reprise their roles with the involvement of S.W.O.R.D, though unknown to what extent. From the promotional content alone, the audience can gauge that the portrayal of each character was given with a lot of love.

WandaVision is sure to leave viewers with a craving for wanting more while overall heightening the excitement for phase four. Wanda’s impact on the MCU will no doubt be unveiled by the end credits as WandaVision is said to directly connect to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and the untitled Spider-Man three movie. This unusual couple is making their way to your television and their story will long be remembered even after reality fades away.
