GRIFFITH, IN – After finishing last season just short of a conference title, the Griffith Panthers baseball team is entering the 2025-26 season with confidence and higher expectations.
The Panthers ended the 2024-25 season with a 12-13 overall record, falling four games short of a conference championship. Now in their second year under head coach Andrew Braddy, players say the team is stronger and more prepared after an intense offseason.
“I confidently believe that this team will win a sectional this year,” sophomore Anthony Feliciano said. “We are better than last year, and with all the work we have put in and countless gym hours, I think this team is well-rounded.”
Improved pitching is a major reason for the team’s optimism. Senior Jayden Serrano is expected to lead the staff, while Feliciano also returns as a key contributor on the mound.
“We have a better pitching staff this year, so I believe we can win,” Feliciano said.
Serrano, now a senior, joined the team last season and played in nine games. Feliciano, entering his second year on varsity, appeared in 22 games last season, finishing with a .298 batting average, 15 runs scored and 12 RBIs. He was also ranked 21st in the Greater South Shore Conference.
While this year’s team is focused on the future, past success still serves as motivation. The Panthers last won a sectional title during the 2021-22 season, defeating Hammond Clark 8-1 under Indiana Hall of Fame coach Brian Jennings.
Now, with a stronger roster and renewed mindset, this year’s Panthers are aiming to bring another title back to Griffith.
