AP exams began worldwide May 4-8 and concluded May 11-15. All AP classes have a corresponding exam, and students who earn a 3, 4 or 5 may qualify for college credit.
Griffith offers a variety of AP classes, ranging from AP Seminar to AP Calculus. The first AP exam administered at Griffith was AP Biology, while the final exam was AP Environmental Science.
AP exams can be intimidating, but both students and teachers take steps to help ensure success. Senior Ava Lee, who is enrolled in AP Statistics and AP Literature, said her teachers have helped prepare students for the exams.
“My teachers are really good at what they do, and they’ve made sure they’re preparing us well,” Lee said.
Many AP teachers assign practice tests and College Board assignments to help students prepare for exam day. Lee also said she spends time outside of class studying independently.
Junior Samantha Rickert, an AP U.S. History and AP Language student, said the exams are beneficial for students. Like Lee, Rickert said her teachers have helped students prepare for the tests.
“Ms. Berzy has gone really in depth with all the different areas of APUSH, and for AP Lang, we’ve experienced a lot with many types of writing,” Rickert said.
Although AP exams can be stressful, practices such as mock exams and teacher support have helped students prepare for the end-of-year assessments.
