GHS Student COVID Journal- October 2020

Katie Bilka, Editor in Chief

October: Students and faculty continue to do what they can to maintain some normalcy during the school/work day. Fall sports are coming to a close, while other extracurriculars are beginning to take off.

The homecoming game was on Oct 16 against Wheeler. Sadly the team lost, but the game was still entertaining to watch. Senior court was announced, with Alana Flores as Queen and Jonathan Baxter and King. This game was also senior night, so the football players, Pantherettes, Color Guard, Band, and more were recognized for their last four years. Alas, this meant the close of all fall sports, but that leaves other extracurriculars to take the spotlight.

Said extracurriculars began, like NHS and pre-tech week for the theater department. As more normalcy began to present itself, more extracurriculars were allowed back into our lives. Now that outdoor sports are over with, students occupy their time with other activities. Of course masks and social distancing are still required, though.

Quarter 1 has just ended, and students have been asked to declare their method of education for the next semester. We all hope that things begin to open up more towards the close of the year.
